My career has looked more like a rock climbing wall, than a ladder.

A Few Thoughts

The very fabric of how global organizations operate is changing so rapidly with the integration of AI, automation, new workplace rules, team dynamics, and of course, WHERE we choose to live and work. I’ve been keeping a pulse on workplace trends and emerging market opportunities, so you can spend more time with your family, living your life, traveling, and pursuing what makes you happier in your careers.

Adam's "DIY" Origins

In 2005, I was hired by Walt Disney World in Orlando, fresh out of college, a company I still idolize to this day for their customer experience and world class employee training. I attended orientation for a few days, but that ended swiftly because Disney's starting pay back then was $7.15/hr, which could comfortably cover only half my rent and a few pepperoni hot pockets. Instead, I channeled my inner Tom Cruise in "Cocktails" at a busy resort pool bar, slingin' frozen drinks at tourists for a while. Sidenote; I didn't have a clue how to save money at 23 years old.

After a short stint in the D.C. area, I returned home to Upstate New York to earn my Master's degree from SUNY Oswego, where I learned the inner-workings of the human mind and career counseling from some of the best mentors academia has to offer. Shortly after purchasing my first home in May 2009, I asked a a few college buddies to help me build my first man-cave. After quickly learning the basics of construction, drywall, wiring lights and outlets, I was hooked.

Fast forward to today, alongside my DIY Partner and wife, I’ve remodeled 3 houses from finishing basements, bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms to backyard retaining walls. Most recently, my wife and I flipped our first investment property…we’re tired and need a break, but looking forward to the next big house project! My new “passion” outside of rebuilding careers…woodworking. I am expanding my woodworking side hustle to include more custom rustic pieces for home, garden, exercise storage, and more!

"Everything happens for a reason" is one of my family's most cliche sayings, but it's true. In December 2016, just before Christmas, I was suddenly laid off by a company I loved working at. After pouring countless hours into a new role pioneering exciting new HR talent development programs, they abruptly ended it during a company restructuring. Losing my job taught me a very humbling life lesson - timing is everything. It wasn't my time to continue that company, and I've long since accepted that.

However, since that day, I have been on a mission to help others impacted by similar, sudden career change. I want my legacy to be simple; help others. I am doing this by imparting whatever knowledge, helping them turn it into personal action. Today, that calling has evolved into focusing on providing SMBs with modern outplacement, partnering with their leadership to help departing talent transition after layoffs/RIFs. A full circle career focus, if you ask me.
